Description
Just 50 years ago, there were dozens of pencil factories in the United States. One of these independent pencil-makers was Ruwe Pencil Co., of Greenwich, Connecticut. The Ruwe factory was small, but it made quite a few different models and became a well-known mark in its home region of the Northeast.
This is the Ruwe Consumer #727, a soft, wide-core pencil manufactured around 1970. We purchased a never-used shelf pack, and we’re offering the individual pencils for retail sale. In our studio tests, the 727 impressed with its dark lead and smooth touch. Made from incense cedar and lacquered in bright blue, it’s a great-looking pencil that still performs perfectly after a half-century in storage.
Sold individually. Vintage items will have small imperfections and cosmetic differences that do not affect their functionality.
