Mitsubishi’s green-and-gold 9000 pencils have been on the market since 1950, with only minor changes to the design in its 70-year run. Dark and smooth, the 9000 set a new standard in the Japanese pencil market upon its release, and this dependable midcentury design has been a top seller ever since.
This is the 4B grade, the softest available in Mitsubishi 9000 pencils. They sharpen to a strong, long point and can smoothly switch from detail work to bold strokes and shading. You can also use this as a very dark, very bold writing pencil, as shown in our photos.
Today’s Mitsubishi 9000 pencils come in a metallic gold box with bold “9000” lettering and the Mitsubishi three-diamonds logo. Twelve unsharpened pencils per box. Made in Japan.
