Description
Extra Heavy, Extra Bright
Hahnemühle Cornwall is a unique watercolor paper that combines bright white color with extra heavy (450 gsm / 210 lb) paper weight and a cold-press surface texture. Cornwall is a great choice for heavy applications of gouache and mixed media because its extra thickness adds more dimensional stability in challenging conditions.
Cornwall blocks are glue-bound on all four sides, with one corner left open for easy removal of the top sheet. Leave the paper glued down while you work and while it dries, then peel it off the block only when it’s totally stable. This is the best practice for working with any glue-bound paper block, especially with thick applications of paint.
Ten sheets per block. Made from sustainably-harvested cellulose (tree pulp) using a process that protects the local and global environment. Acid free and stable for archival or display.
Hahnemühle Since 1584
Hahnemühle is an historic European papermaker, with a history that reaches back 400 years to the earliest milling activity near Dassel, Germany. The rivers that flow through this region have provided Hahnemühle a key raw material (water) and a source of clean power for many, many years. Today’s Hahnemühle builds on this rich history with high-quality paper products, made with a close eye on sustainability.
Hahnemühle — Respecting Nature
Hahnemühle only uses primary paper pulp that comes from sustainable and FSC- or PEFC-certified tree farms. In these responsibly managed areas, 3-4 trees are planted for each tree harvested.
As early as 1965, Hahnemühle was the first paper manufacturer worldwide to produce exclusively vegan papers. Animal glues made of gelatin or substrates of animal origin are not allowed in Hahnemühle papers. Instead, Hahnemühle uses a synthetic sizing to treat its papers. This vegan sizing is biodegradable; it contains no genetically modified organisms; and it’s free from harmful or toxic substances.
